Newell’s Paddock is an urban nature reserve by the Maribyrnong River. It’s a lovely parkland with plenty of recreational space and a reclaimed wetland area, attracting a lot of bird life and native fauna. There are soccer, cycling and basketball facilities, and a barbeque area with great views of the city.

It’s bordered by the train line between South Kensington and Footscray Stations. The best street to look up is Jamieson Ave, just off Ballarat Rd.

Our group, Friends of Newell’s Paddock, started in 2014 and holds planting and weeding days, clean up days and generally advocate for the park’s improvement. You’re welcome to join us!
