Frog Census

Our group regularly hosts Frog Census evenings, where we record frog calls near the wetlands at dusk.  This is part of a larger frog monitoring program by Melbourne Water, in which several times each year the frog audio recordings are collected and their species are identified by a professional ecologist.  The data informs planning and decision making on waterway health.

Wildlife Habitat Boxes

With the support of the Maribyrnong City Council, the Braybrook Men’s Shed has built several habitat boxes which have been placed in quite a few spots around the paddock. They’ve been built to favour particular native species – red rumped parrots, ducks, ringtale possums, pardelotes, and microbats! Some of them have been designed in particular to discourage invasive species, like Indian mynas.
